Summit Engineering History

Founded in 1977, Summit Engineering, Inc. has rapidly expanded to meet the growing civil, architectural, mining engineering and environmental engineering needs of Kentucky, western Virginia and West Virginia. Summit’s first office, located in Pikeville, Kentucky, now serves as its Corporate Headquarters. The company opened its second office in 1980 which is now located in Big Rock, VA. In 1981, Summit’s Civil Engineering Design Headquarters opened in Lexington, KY. A fourth branch opened in 1985 in Chapmanville, West Virginia, which was consolidated with the Charleston office in September 2011.. Summit Architectural Services was created in April 1995 and operates out of the Pikeville office. Our second West Virginia office was opened in Charleston in 1996. Summit’s sixth office opened in Hazard, Kentucky in 1998. In February 2008, Summit opened its third West Virginia office in Bridgeport, West Virginia. In 2013, the Wise, VA and Hazard office were closed and a new office was located in Henderson, KY. The Big Rock, VA closed its doors in mid 2014.

Today, Summit Enginineering has 4 locations: Pikeville, KY; Henderson, KY; Lexington, KY; Charleston, WV.
